Carly surprises Craig and Rosanna, Brad tries to communicate with Katie and Jack leaves town.
Inside the church, Craig tells Rosanna that they should realize how precious life is. She's afraid of her sister. He knows telling her won't be pretty, but, after they do, everything will be a cake walk. "I'm not going to give you up without a fight," he says. They kiss and walk over to Margo.
Katie sits in the back office of the church and weeps. Brad's ghost looks over her and talks but she can't hear him. He tells her that he wants Jacob to grow up to be just like Jack. When she turns around, she sees Henry and tries to chase him out. As she lays into him, Brad keeps interjecting. When Henry tries answering him, Katie shouts at him and storms out. Brad and Henry begin arguing. Henry insists that he's a figment of his imagination. Brad claims he's not a ghost and is going to be sticking by him until he learns why he is still around. As Henry walks out, Brad follows him. Henry directs him to his grave but Brad isn't ready to go. "Please help me reach my wife," Brad pleads. Henry doesn't think he can help. Brad vows to find a way and vanishes.
Liberty tells her mother that she doesn't know if she can face anymore people. Parker offers to be there for her.
Outside, Jack is startled to run into Carly in the parking lot. She says it was time for her to come back and she wanted to help out with the family. Brad drove her crazy but she loved him. He tries to avoid her but she won't let him go. She knows about the shooting. He insists that it was his fault and he'll never be able to make it right. Carly tells him that running away won't make him feel any better. He says that she looks well rested. "I feel," she says. When she begins talking about drinking, he laughs uncomfortably and walks back into the church. They find the church empty. She asks him why he came to see her. He doesn't explain and tells her not to let anyone take away her hard won sobriety.
At home, Katie gives Liberty some of Brad's things and tells her how amazed her father was by her. "You can do anything you set your mind to just like he did," she says. When she begins attacking Jack, Margo steps in and defends him. "You wouldn't say that if you knew everything," Liberty says. Parker takes her home and then Margo leaves her sister alone. As she looks over photos and weeps, Brad walks through the wall. "Honey, I'm home," he says.
Jack goes home and tells Janet that he ran into Carly outside of the church. He admits that he couldn't sit in the church and then worries about Rosanna and Craig. A week ago, he would have told Carly everything about them just so he could gloat about how much better than Craig he was. "I don't have the right to pass judgment on anyone. Not anymore," he says. He sits with her. She's wearing his shirt. They smell each other and he continues trying to talk to her. He tells her how much she changed his life. When he tries touching her, his fingers go through her, but she feels something. Henry shows up at the door. She shuts it in his face.
Jack goes down to the station and confesses to Margo that he had a couple of beers before he shot Brad. She doesn't know what to say. He hands her his gun and badge before walking out.
At home, Janet tells Liberty that Jack is off limits. She thinks Parker deserves to know the whole truth and tells him that his father was drinking. Parker refuses to believe it and walks out. Liberty tells her mother that this isn't fair. Janet knows, but the only thing that can be done is grieving.
Brad and Henry go out for a drink. Brad isn't ready to cross over. "Eternity sucks," he complains. He asks Henry to find a way to bring him back to life. Henry jokes that they can sell his soul to the devil. Brad would do it. Henry repeats that he can't help. "You have to. You owe me," Brad says.
Jack goes to see Katie. He apologizes for not making it to the funeral and tells her he doesn't deserve to have her son named after him. He admits that he had a couple of beers before the shooting. She doesn't think that would have made any difference. "Please stop blaming yourself," she says. Katie can't believe she'll never feel how much Brad treasured her again. After he leaves, she smells Brad's shirt. "Brad? Are you here?" she asks.
Craig walks Rosanna home and she tells him she's grateful to have him in her life. He kisses her. When they walk inside, they're startled to see Carly there. "This is a wonderful surprise," Craig manages to say. Carly tells him that they need to talk about their engagement. He tells her that she needs to do whatever is best for her recovery. Before she can say anything else, Sage calls. Rosanna and Craig duck into the kitchen. He assumes that Carly is about to break up with him so they should just let her do it and save face. Carly comes in and hands Craig his ring back. She put him through too much and is sure she hurt him. After thanking both of them for everything they've done, she tells them that she'll need them now more than she ever has. Knowing Craig was waiting for her is the thing which has helped her through rehab. "I'm going to be so proud to be your wife," she tells him. As she hugs him, Craig looks at Rosanna with an expression of horrible confusion. He begins stuttering. Carly wants him to ask her to marry him again so she can accept when she's sober. Parker walks in. She hugs him and tells him things are as they should be. "Really? You didn't tell her?" he asks Craig and Rosanna.
Jack goes back to the farm house. He sits on the porch and writes a note. After he leaves, Janet comes out and finds it. It says that he is going away for awhile so he can make peace with what he did.
