Brady forces Ari to quit the pub, Sami and EJ bond at Grace's gravesite, Melanie bumps into Philip, and Nathan saves a life.
At the pier, Rafe hands Tim, his FBI friend, Sami’s toothbrush and Sydney’s teething ring and urges him to get the results back soon. Arianna eavesdrops until Rafe comes upon her. She is surprised he’s going through with the DNA results considering it could push Sami and EJ back together. Rafe knows but it doesn’t make a difference. He doesn’t want Sami to grieve for the rest of her life or for Nicole to get away with what she has done. Of course he doesn’t want to lose Sami to an arrogant jerk like EJ, but he has to do this. Arianna thinks Sami’s going to want to murder Nicole. Rafe is disgusted that Sami has been so generous with Nicole and thinks he’ll be first in line to kill Nicole. Ari says he’ll be in line with EJ, and lets Rafe know that she spoke with EJ last night. She’s sure he has strong feelings for Sami and has a bad feeling that he’ll want her back when he learns the truth. Rafe doesn’t think it matters how he feels. Sami’s only close to him because of their bond with Johnny.
At the hospital, Nicole hopes Chad has changed his mind, considering there’s a chance he’s not Sydney’s father. Lexi walks by and overhears as Chad says he’s not afraid of Nicole. As soon as he finds out he’s Sydney’s father, he’ll get Nicole away from her. Nicole hopes if he is the father that he’ll allow her visitation. Chad doesn’t think that’s going to happen and asks what she’s up to, now. Nicole’s trying to be realistic. Chad thinks they should wait until the results come back to make an agreement. Later, Lexi introduces herself to Chad and warns him not to trust Nicole.
Sami calls EJ. She has to pick up Grace’s scarf he left behind yesterday. EJ thinks she must have meant Johnny’s scarf and Sami apologizes. She does this often. EJ understands. He thinks of Grace as well and offers to bring the scarf to her. It’d be nice to see her and talk to her alone, anyway. On EJ’s way out, he bumps into Stefano who has been thinking that the house is awfully empty. EJ asks him to stop it. His heart is broken over Grace and he misses Sydney, daily. He’s lonely and sad but doesn’t need his father to badger him. Stefano’s not trying to manipulate him. He knows how precious time is and recalls how EJ lived with joy when Nicole and Sydney were there. EJ was deluded, he says, and has made a decision not to press charges against Nicole. He won’t forgive her but she has suffered enough.
Nathan bumps into Stephanie at the pub and they greet one another until a woman starts choking and Nathan grabs his grandfather’s medical bag, rushes to her side and does CPR. He, Caroline and Stephanie are flabbergasted when Nathan saves the woman’s life.
Melanie finds Brady in a terrible mood at Java. She too is not in a great mood but she wants to discuss it, knowing he’ll know what to do. She says she’s dating Nathan but still wants Philip. Brady laughs at the irony and thinks she should dump them both! Melanie thinks he’s just a little bit jaded. "You screwed up with Arianna again, didn’t you?" No, Arianna did and they’ve now broken up permanently. He doesn’t want to discuss it further but asks if she is in love with Philip. "Could be." Brady reminds her that the last time she had her go around with Philip, he broke her heart. "Don’t give him the chance to do it again."
EJ brings Johnny’s scarf to Sami and she comments that she knows she’s not his favorite person. EJ ignores that and asks if she’ll do something with him.
Stefano and Nicole meet at the pier. He has good news. Elvis is softening toward her. If she plays her cards right by following his instructions, EJ may take her back. He’s not going to press charges against her and just needs time to continue to soften his anger.
Sami and EJ stand over Grace’s gravesite and EJ lies flowers down and wishes he was in Grace’s life. He has been thinking about Grace, lately. He’d like to mourn together … with her. Sami is surprised and holds EJ’s hand as they look over her gravestone. Sami says Grace had a gift, a beautiful goofy smile and would make you feel as though everything would be okay. Sami reminisces about Grace’s death and cries as EJ puts his arm around her. "I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you about Grace and I hope that someday you’ll forgive me." EJ admits he can never stay mad at her for too long and caresses her cheek.
Melanie looks for Brady at the mansion but finds Philip, who offers her something to drink. She accuses him of working on her but he’s not. He likes her and wants to be with her but she has made it clear she doesn’t want a relationship with him. He respects that and asks why she’s there, considering he knows she just left Brady a few minutes ago. He figures she’s there to see him.
Arianna arrives back to her room over the pub to find Rafe, reading a magazine. He admits today’s a tense day for him and knows she’s looking out for him but why is she talking to EJ? Arianna says it’s strange. She bumped into him and he kept on talking and gloating that Rafe was out of the picture. Rafe’s glad to hear they didn’t spend time together while he was gone.
EJ and Sami return to her townhouse and EJ appreciates her going with him to the gravesite. Sami’s glad they could share it and hopes he’s considering forgiving her. "Maybe, but just don’t tell my father. You know how DiMera’s are not supposed to forgive." Sami laughs. If he trusted in who he was, he’d wake up a happy man. Just then, Rafe calls and when he hears EJ’s voice, wonders what the hell EJ’s doing there! She can’t discuss it now, so Rafe apologizes for jumping at her. They hang up and EJ thanks Sami again for coming with him. Sami calls life precious and says she wants him to be happy. EJ gives her a quick kiss and leaves. Sami returns Rafe’s call as Nicole returns home and interrupts. Nicole tells Sami that she and Sydney might be moving out soon. Things are looking up. Sami’s happy. Nicole is surprised and calls her a good person. Sami reluctantly admits Rafe’s back, once Nicole assures her she can be trusted. He’s working on a super secret case that’ll affect her entire future! Nicole’s jaw drops.
At the hospital, Nathan tells Stephanie he wouldn’t trade being a doctor for anything in the world. Stephanie hugs him. She’s proud!
Brady goes to Arianna at the pub. He wants to make sure Caroline is okay. Arianna tells Caroline she’s giving her notice, effective immediately. Caroline is surprised.
On the pier, Rafe makes a call, checking on DNA results while EJ walks up behind him.

EJ tells Rafe that he and Sami share a child and there’s nothing Rafe can do about that.
Nicole tells Stefano that Rafe will blow up her life.
